Welcome to Making History

Welcome!  This site is predominately a collection of true stories (tagged as "Feature Article") about real people represented in part by scale models of the machines they used. I hope you find it interesting.

Moving right along with the airframe, it’s time now for a flat coat and then some weathering. The raised surface details mean no wash is required on this one so straight to making George a bit grubby.
To be honest, I’m not particularly enjoying this one. The scale is a bit small at 1/72 and it’s an old tool and fit/finish just isn’t doing anything for me. Nonetheless progress continues with the gloss coat and most of the decals done.
My No.460 Sqd RAAF Lancaster is starting to look the part. Today I applied the topside camo freehand. I’m very happy with how my new Iwata HB-BH airbrush performed and equally happy with my first use of Hataka Red Line paints. A successful day!
I never was happy with the original photos of this one so I retook a few with a new lens. I think these are much better, though hi-res didn’t do me any favours with the paint job!
My VF-34 Grumman F6F-3 has had its glamour shoot and the article is posted to the main site (link in bio). The Eduard kit is a joy to build, and I’m pleased with the result.
Time to start! I’m excited to begin my Lancaster - I’ll be building this one out of the box as G-George from No.460 Squadron RAAF.
